Avoid Spring Break Vacation Hassles

Author: Gail Leino

You may be looking forward to your trip to the Cancun or some other popular and sunny vacation area, but so are hundreds of thousands of college students and if you happen to arrive in time for Spring Break you will have to endure a lot of drunken antics. Despite the best of intentions of you and your travel agent you may end up in one of these popular spots during the two month span between the beginning of March and the end of April which is the height of spring break season. You will be surrounded by hooting, hollering hooligans which can be a bad enough shock to a couple, but if this is a family vacation your kids might be scarred forever at the sight of MTV wet tee shirt contests.

There are a few steps you can take to improve your situation if you happen to insist on visiting Cancun during the spring and summer months, since even though spring is the most popular time for college partiers there may be quite a few people visiting in the summer months.

Get a specifically adult hotel

Many hotels in Cancun are will only allow individuals over the age of 25 years old to get a hotel room. This may seem harsh but it is in response to the over whelming connection between the young age of many people who seem to visit Cancun during the Spring Break season and the tendency for all heck to break out in response. These hotels that have an age limit on who will be renting and paying for the rooms dont necessarily keep younger people out because a younger person can stay with whoever is renting the room. However it is a sign that they will be less inclined to allow any rowdy behavior in the rooms.

Stay away from the danger zones

Danger zones in terms of spring break are places that would be classically visited by those looking to party. All you need to do in order to recognize the danger zones is watch a few hours of MTV during spring break time, wherever MTV is you know the partiers are going to be. You can also avoid the bars and beaches.

Complain, complain, complain

If some spring break goers do happen to interrupt your stay at the hotel or your dining experiences make sure to call for the manager and complain immediately. This way you have a much better chance of getting some sort of compensation and an apology. They may even be able to move you to a different table or a different room away from the racket. If you hold your tongue it will usually do you no good and often you find yourself complaining later on when they cant or wont be able to do anything for you.

Follow these tips and have a safe and quiet Spring Break vacation
